#365: Tomorrow is the first day of a brand new year. Tomorrow you get to become anyone in the world that you wish. Who are you? If you decide to stay “you” share your rationale.
I’d still be me – just a healthier, non-ill version! I look forward to the simple things, like eating normal food once again and more than anything, I’ve just realised I’m really looking forward to deciding what I’ll do with my blog for 2015! So far, I’m thinking one of the following:
– taking up a photography challenge;
– writing about the events and opportunities my career takes me to;
– turning it into a bucket list blog;
– writing regular reviews on my favourite things (films, games, restaurants etc).
It would be great to hear from my fellow bloggers on their thoughts or any other ideas.
Thanks to everyone in the blogging community for welcoming me into this incredible world and showing me such overwhelming support – you’ve made 2014 fabulous!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
#345: Who is the person in your life who can do no wrong? Describe this person and tell us why you hold them in such high esteem.
Does such a person even exist?! Surely it should be a lot clearer by saying something like “…who, in your opinion, can do no wrong?”. Everyone has their flaws
#326: Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?
Kicking back and watching The Good Wife. Or playing some video games with my brother – most recently LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (such a good game!). Another form of my playtime is meeting up with my friends for dinner, drinks or the odd pub quiz. There are simply too many options to choose from!
#322: What’s the thing you’re most scared to do? What would it take to get you to do it?
Travelling to a foreign country (where English isn’t widely known) by myself. I’ve never travelled alone before (as in holiday, not tube journey), as I always feel like I’d become a target what with being 5″2, female and generally a kind (some may say too kind) person.
I guess the only thing I could do is just get on with it and bite the bullet, but I think as it’s such an alien concept is always manage to convince myself not to do it. I feel like I need to find a buddy who is in the same situation – then we can ease ourselves into the single traveller lifestyle. I’ve been recommended a few websites that organise group holidays for single travellers (no, not for dating!), but the trips have always been so expensive.
#318: Write about evil: how you understand it (or don’t), what you think it means, or a way it’s manifested, either in the world at large or in your life.
Oh dear… Another deadline missed! I really should stop going on nights out and getting back (technically) the next day! At least, as of next week, I’ll be getting my lunch breaks back so will be able to complete my prompts on the correct days!
Anyway, back to business…
I’d like to say that I understand evil but I really don’t think I do. One thing I do believe in however, is that people are not born wicked, but they have wickedness thrust upon them (referencing the great green witch, Elphaba).
#311: Do you have a mentor? Tell us about him or her. Are you a mentor to someone else? Tell us what that relationship has added to your life.
I do indeed! He’s my best friend and I couldn’t imagine my life without him! We met through my current job, as he freelances for the mag, and he’s the most incredible person I have ever met. We speak most days and try to meet up as frequently as we can, mostly for a visit to Choccywoccydoodah as we both love the place. But I can honestly say that he’s made me a better person and, for that, I will be forever grateful. If I’m ever stuck or in a pickle about something, he’s always there for me, showing me oodles of love and support – I couldn’t wish for anything more!
I hope that I can do the same for someone else one day.
#309: Describe the last time you were surprised by the intensity of a feeling you had about something, or were surprised at how strongly you reacted to something you thought wouldn’t be a big deal.
Not coming last in a quiz! So my friends and I regularly attend a monthly quiz in a super cool club/bar in London, and last month we came last. In my defense, there was only two of us (commonly teams between 4 and 5) as we had to get a randomer in last minute and she wasn’t that bothered with helping us. On the plus side, we got to choose this months bonus round topic (The Big Bang Theory of course!), so very much swings and roundabouts. However! After the first round in this months quiz, we were joint last… and we had 5 members?! We couldn’t lose for the second time in a row! So during the second round, we really buckled down. I was fairly confident with The Big Bang Theory round as it’s my favourite show and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched season 1-6 (we only recently got season 7 on DVD and season 8 has only just begun airing in the UK). What surprised me, was how queasy I felt as the quizmaster began to announce who placed last… after it was revealed that we hadn’t lost, I was overjoyed! Turns out we were joint third!
Sounds silly but after the excitement of not losing and placing quite high, I really want to win next months – although the specialist topic round is astrology… uh-oh!
#305: …for tomorrow we die. The world is ending tomorrow! Tell us about your last dinner — the food, your dining companions, the setting, the conversation.
I’m guessing today’s morbid post has taken inspiration from yesterday’s spookiness… Halloween! My last dinner… but there’s so many amazing tasting dishes out there – how could I possibly choose just the one?! So, to combat this I’d have a tapas style feast with Mexican food, Thai, Spanish, British, Italian, Indian, all sorts! To wash it all down, I would either choose a Southern Comfort, lemonade and lime or a strawberry and lime Rekordelig, as they seem to be my firm favourites… or I’d just treat myself and have both. My dining companions would of course be my family and my besties! The setting wouldn’t matter, so long as it was warm and there was enough space for everyone (and the food!). No doubt we’d be reminiscing about the good ol’ days or playing an incredibly silly game, as has become a family get together tradition over the past decade or so.
#302: Tell us about your first day at something — your first day of school, first day of work, first day living on your own, first day blogging, first day as a parent, whatever.
Well, my first day here at work was almost two and a half years ago now, but I guess that’s the most recent official “first”. I can’t really remember much of it, although coincidentally, one of my office besties who I went to lunch with, reminded me of the fact that he was the first person I spoke to as he let me in the building! He did say that he thought (at first) that I didn’t like him – bless him! I explained though that I was intimidated by his perfect-ness so didn’t want to embarrass myself haha. It was a lovely lunch break, spent reminiscing and gossiping 😀
#257: Grab the nearest book. Open it and go to the tenth word. Do a Google Image Search of the word. Write about what the image brings to mind.
Apologies for the lateness… Today I was at the incredible Invictus Games in London, supporting the worlds bravest, most inspiring wounded servicemen and women – aka heroes. It was the most incredible day.
But anyway, the task in hand. The nearest book – Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones, Mad about The Boy. Tenth word on a randomly opened page – airily. Hmm… It seems that Airily is a brand of bizarre looking headphones – far from what I expected to see! The image of the headphones bring parties to mind, but that could be linked to the fact that I was just watching a TV programme where one of the main characters is a DJ… who, by coincendence, wears headphones! It also makes me think of a friend of mine who doesn’t like dancing or clubbing, but who I’d really like to go clubbing with (if that makes sense). Who doesn’t like to boogie every now and again?!
