I don’t know if others find the same thing where they live, but people seem to be a lot happier when the sun’s out… especially in London! Maybe because we don’t get to see it very often and we’ve just had winter (and very little snow), but wandering around a sunny capital during your lunch break is a glorious experience…
#279: You make a new friend. Make them a mixtape (or playlist, for the younger folks) that tells them who you are through song.
Hmm… a tricky one! I don’t know whether there are songs that could sum up or narrate my life – and I’m not saying it to insinuate that my life is completely different from every other persons on the planet, but purely that I’ve never thought of songs in that way. So instead, I’m going to examine my (current) favourite songs, to see if there is any relevance…
Pentatonix – La La Latch. The ‘La La La’ parts of the song of the song refer to families future responses to upcoming (exciting) decisions and the ‘Latch’ parts refer to a new interest in my life.
Pentatonix – Rather Be (cover). Again, referring to a new interest.
Sigma ft. Paloma Faith – Changing. Referring to a part of my life that I hope is going to continue to change over the next 6-12 months… exciting times!
Meghan Trainor – All About That Bass. I believe that the use of PhotoShop to manipulate models images for glossy mags/billboards etc, should stop as it’s damaging to tonnes of teens around the world. Fair enough, I’m only a size 8-10 but women should be portrayed as healthy weights and as Megan rightly references… no plastic, stick thin barbie dolls!
Pharrell Williams – Happy. Self explanatory 😀
The Lion King – Hakuna Matata. A motto that I try to live by… it means no worries for the rest of your days!
Les Miserables – Little People & Do You Hear The People Sing. Just because some of the verses are very relevant at the moment (and I LOVE Les Mis!) – plus I’m only 5″3, so Little People signifies that height doesn’t restrict an individuals capabilities.
Hercules (Disney’s) – Go the Distance. As I believe that I can (and will) achieve great things in my lifetime.
And I couldn’t write this post without including… Frozen – Let It Go! Signifying that I’m ready for the next stage of my life, no matter what anyone would think of me.
#266: Write a post about anything you’d like, but be sure to include this sentence somewhere in the final paragraph: “He tried to hit me with a forklift!”
Anything I like… I guess I could write about my endeavour to give my CV a complete overhaul, which begun last week. I decided that the reason I’ve not been getting many interview offers following my application submissions, is due to the fact that my CV looks pretty boring at first glance. So I thought “Chloe, it’s time for a makeover – time to really shake it up!”. What’s the first thing I do… Google for CV examples. The only slight flaw in this plan, was the fact that there is sooo much advice out there, inevitably clouding my overall objective. That said, the raw copy is typed up and ready, as this forms the general body of the document and I have had a little play around with the various style options available within a pages document. Let’s just say I’m getting there.
Once I’m happy with my new CV, I’ve got a few really good friends who said that they’d be happy to read through it and give me their thoughts – I’m always looking for feedback and ways in which I can improve, so being given constructive criticism always sits well with me. Whilst this is in progress, I can crack on with perfecting the basis to my cover letter – as without realising it, they’ve become a full A4 page long and nobody wants to be faced with that when having to sift through potentially hundreds of applications! I guess I’m just sick of getting the same old emails that start with “Thank you for your interest for our xxx vacancy at xxx. Unfortunately, we will not be taking your application any further… blah blah blah”. Every time I open one of these emails, it feels like he/she has tried to hit me with a forklift! But I’m determined for that to change and soon. So, watch this space…
#172: Tell us a joke! Knock-knock joke, long story with a unexpected punchline, great zinger — all jokes are welcome!
I don’t really know any jokes, so I decided to google for some instead. Typing in ‘greatest jokes of all time’, I was presented with a list of 50 jokes that were supposed to be the best of the bunch… but they were truly terrible! I think humour these days has changed so much. Unfortunately, knock-knocks and one liners just aren’t enough anymore. There needs to be build up, other characters coming in to play… in my opinion, sketches are the way forward when it comes to knock out comedy.
#139: You encounter a mysterious man offering you a magic potion that, once sipped, will make one of your senses (sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch) super sharp — but dull the others. Will you sip it, and if so, what sense do you choose?
I don’t think I would to be honest. For one, I don’t know who this person is – for all I know it could be poison that would eventually kill me. Secondly, I think if I chose one, I’d end up missing the rest after a while. So, I’d rather stick to the levels of senses I was given.
