#332: Tell us about the one luxury item you wish you could afford, in as much detail as you can. Paint a picture for us.
I wish I could afford my own place – a house would be ideal but at the moment I’d settle for a newly refurbished flat looking over the glorious London skyline. Not that I’ve looked at properties near Buckingham Palace but around that way would be perfect, as whenever I’ve been there it’s been gloriously sunny and felt really fresh (well, aside from the day after Prince George was born… it was raining but I was determined to get a peek at the golden royal announcement!). It would have a master bedroom (double of course… it did say luxury!) with its own ensuite; it would be nice to have a guest bedroom, a separate bathroom and toilet (which I’ve always found handy over the years – infection separation and all that!); of course it wouldn’t be complete without a kitchen and a living room! The rest I wouldn’t really mind – they’d be happy extras!
Decor wise, I’d prefer a more minimalist vibe; white walls, wooden floors with cosy rugs, duck egg blue accessories here and there, hidden storage space and the odd canvas family photo hanging up in every room (or if good enough – a favourite holiday snap!). I’d have a giant desk lamp in my living room… and, believe it or not, such a thing does exist! I saw it at a Christmas in July PR event and I wanted it instantly – think life-sized Pixar opening credit desk lamp!
Oh and I’d really like a top notch smoothie maker… whilst I’m at it 😀
#326: Do you play in your daily life? What says “playtime” to you?
Kicking back and watching The Good Wife. Or playing some video games with my brother – most recently LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (such a good game!). Another form of my playtime is meeting up with my friends for dinner, drinks or the odd pub quiz. There are simply too many options to choose from!
It’s a late one tonight but it’s for a very, very good reason! I’ve spent the whole day bursting with pride as my little brother graduated uni 😀
#320: What do you love most about yourself? What do you love most about your favorite person? Are the two connected?
Love is such a strong word… Does anyone really ‘love’ something about themselves?! When I really think about it however, I guess the thing I most like is my ability to hold myself in every situation I am in. Whether it’s at a networking event, an event in which I am representing the magazine by myself, taking office phone calls or even in any of the junkets I’ve done. I’ve always been told that I come across extremely well (albeit slightly posh!).
To now be asked about my favourite person is a bit tough – my family are my favourite people and I couldn’t possibly decide. So, what I most love about these people are that they are always there for me and never fail to cheer me up.
Is there a link… I would have to say yes. I know people say it all the time, but these people really have made me who I am today. My confidence and desire to succeed in this world stems from these guys – I will only ever want to make them proud of me.
#319: Interview someone — a friend, another blogger, your mother, the postman — and write a post based on their responses.
Since I’ve left it so late to interview someone, I’ll have to fabricate this ever so slightly (based on today’s events). My interviewee’s are my family and after showing them the How To Train Your Dragon 2/Norway video projects I’ve been working on all week, I asked for their thoughts.
The general consensus was that I’d shown huge improvement from the two junkets I completed in my two and a half year career with the magazine, which was lovely to hear. I was told that I should be really proud considering I wrote, produced, presented and edited the entire thing – and I haven’t even had any training in this field!
#305: …for tomorrow we die. The world is ending tomorrow! Tell us about your last dinner — the food, your dining companions, the setting, the conversation.
I’m guessing today’s morbid post has taken inspiration from yesterday’s spookiness… Halloween! My last dinner… but there’s so many amazing tasting dishes out there – how could I possibly choose just the one?! So, to combat this I’d have a tapas style feast with Mexican food, Thai, Spanish, British, Italian, Indian, all sorts! To wash it all down, I would either choose a Southern Comfort, lemonade and lime or a strawberry and lime Rekordelig, as they seem to be my firm favourites… or I’d just treat myself and have both. My dining companions would of course be my family and my besties! The setting wouldn’t matter, so long as it was warm and there was enough space for everyone (and the food!). No doubt we’d be reminiscing about the good ol’ days or playing an incredibly silly game, as has become a family get together tradition over the past decade or so.
#301: Khalil Gibran once said that people will never understand one another unless language is reduced to seven words. What would your seven words be?
Hmmm… that’s a tricky one since the world is made up of so many wonderful words – superfluous for one, just because of the way it sounds! The first two that sprung to mind however, were ‘please’ and ‘thank-you’ (hyphenated so it only counts as one word mwaha!), as in my opinion, portions of the world could do with using manners more often. Then, in no particular order, I would want to keep the following words: family, love, passion, career and happiness. The only other word I’d want to keep is music as there is no possible way that I could live without it, but then I thought it would be quite redundant considering the volcabulary had been dramatically shortened.
#286: Your personal sculptor is carving a person, thing, or event from the last month of your life into the glistening marble of immortality. What’s the statue and what makes it so significant?
It would be a statue of a brother and sister, titled ‘Never-ending family’. I have chosen this, as recently it was just my Brother and I in the house whilst our parents were away for their anniversary… and we had a great time! We got to eat what ever we fancied (admittedly we did treat ourselves to two takeaways, which across nine days isn’t actually that bad!) and we got to watch LOADS of The Big Bang Theory on the big screen (woop), but most importantly we got to spend lots of time together, which in this day and age is hard to do. I feel like it went way too quickly though – not that I didn’t want our parents to return, it’s just that nowadays we spend most of our evenings in our own rooms. So, I thoroughly look forward to the next time we’re given free rein!
#261: Are you comfortable in front of people, or does the idea of public speaking make you want to hide in the bathroom? Why?
I’ve always hated giving presentations… ever since sixth form. Just the thought of having to be the only person standing in front of a large number of people, being the sole focus for a certain length of time, I get clammy palms! Saying that, I am still willing to give anything a go… since uni I have successfully completed two on camera junket interviews and a singular on camera piece, with just myself in the shot talking to camera. So my confidence has definitely grown and now I’m addicted to a good challenge!
For anyone who read my post, ‘You can’t escape’… I truly couldn’t escape. Yesterday the cold finally got me – I’ve managed to avoid it for two weeks but what with it being at work and at home, it’s really no surprise that it got me. So, shamefully I missed yesterday’s post (I’m not going to count it as a fail… extenuating circumstances and all that!) – but here it is…
The cat says meow
#260: Write a story about yourself from the perspective of an object, thing, animal or another person.
I’ve chosen my cousins dog, who joins us on pretty much every family occasion since he is part of the family! Channelling…
Oooo, people! Must count everyone… 4, 8, 12, 17… yep, we’re all here! Right, who’s making the biggest fuss of me… Ahh Chloe! You’re so warm… that’s it, right behind the ear! Hmm… I wonder if anyone has anything to eat! Nanny usually has something for me… I’ll go to her instead.
So today (or for what’s left of it), I will be cheating on my blogging prompt challenge. It’s been a hectic day and since getting home, I’ve felt really under the weather. The colleague who sits next to me at work (and who I annoyingly share a phone with) is disgusting ill with a lingering cold and instead of doing the decent thing by staying home, she decided that it would be a great idea to infect the entire office. I was doing a pretty good job avoiding it… using antibacterial hand gel as often as breathing, consuming a ridiculous amount of pineapple, vitamin c and pine nuts, and just generally staying away from anything she’d touched… Well, that was until my brother got a cold, too. So for the past few nights, I’ve been segregated to my room in a pointless attempt at trying to avoid this virus, but I think it’s finally got me. So brain functionality, at this moment of time, has well and truly hit rock bottom.
Hopefully I’ll be able to resume normal service tomorrow…
