31/31 Blogging gives me a voice

31. Why do you blog?

That’s like asking why do I eat…

I really enjoy writing and love being able to improve on it through practice and feedback. When it comes to taking part in blogging challenges, I love finding out other peoples perspective to the same prompt and see how it compares to my own. One of the other big reasons I blog is that I love looking at the stats. Finding out that someone from Australia or Croatia has visited my blog (and hopefully enjoyed it) is an incredible feeling.

Within the blogging community, I can be myself. Here, you are not judged or bullied, you are encouraged. You aren’t told that you’re doing it wrong as there is no right answer. Blogging gives people the creative freedom to post whatever they like as there is an audience for everyone. As RuPaul once said…

“It’s important to know thyself, and for people who don’t feel they fit in, it’s important to find your tribe. I remember the first time, when I was a kid in San Diego, California, I felt so alone and I felt I’d been dropped here by aliens from another planet. I remember when I saw Monty Python’s Flying Circus on television, people with this irreverent sense of humour and these ideas towards identity and drag and everything, I felt like, ‘That’s my tribe’. After that, I set out to go and find my people, and I eventually did. So the truth is, your tribe is out there waiting for you. You have to be willing to leave your village or leave your place and go find them, because they’re looking for you too.”

30/31 That’s not how I’d like to spend my time

30. What’s in your makeup bag?

Is it just me or is this an insanely daft question to which there is only one answer?!

I’m not going to write a list containing each individual product I have in my makeup bag as it would be ridiculously boring. Both to write and to read.

Instead I’ll share this quote that (sort of) relates to the above…

3/31 Say what?!

3. Your favourite quote

What a tricky prompt! There are just so many quotes to choose from. I mean, just take a look at my ‘Quotes to live by‘ Pinterest board… There’s almost 300 quotes in it!

Some of my favourites include:

“Life is about using the whole box of crayons” – RuPaul

“Everything will be alright in the end and if it’s not alright, then it’s not the end” – The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

“Water off a ducks back” – Jinxx Monsoon

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away” – William Shakespeare

And of course, let’s not forget… “If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else” – RuPaul

My delayed journey

So, my delayed vlogging journey is, at last, starting to take shape – I’m forever watching one of my favourite vloggers, Tyler Oakley (seven years of content will thankfully take a while to catch up on), along with my favourite vlogging duo, Superfruit, comprised of Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying (aka Pentatonix). But, I finally have a MacBook that will allow me to edit videos in my own time…. and not during my lunch breaks! *victory dance* I’m so unbelievably excited to have received this as it feels like I’ve been saving for years. I must admit however, that it feels so bizarre to be sat here on my sofa, watching the Brit Awards… and TYPING!

Oh I’ve missed it…

Everything changes

I don’t know if others find the same thing where they live, but people seem to be a lot happier when the sun’s out… especially in London! Maybe because we don’t get to see it very often and we’ve just had winter (and very little snow), but wandering around a sunny capital during your lunch break is a glorious experience…

One of my favourite songs

Over the last couple of months, I have become completely addicted with watching Rupaul’s Drag Race on Netflix (they have all six seasons available!). Through these shows I discovered RuPaul’s music and have more or less listened to them every week religiously. So, since I zipped through the seasons so quickly and unfortunately Netflix haven’t made Drag Race All Stars or Untucked (the extra bits from Drag Race) available to watch, I’ve decided to deal with my withdrawal symptoms by creating these cool little quote images of my favourite lyrics and sayings that have come from the legendary Queen of Queens!

This one is from a song called The Beginning – I really relate to these lyrics at the moment as I am planning to move into London for the first time, which I’m exceedingly excited about. Of course, there are those moments of sheer panic thinking about how it’s all going to turn out, but then I just listen to this song! It’s upbeat and full of motivational lyrics that make you feel better about what may lie ahead…

Earworm

#191: Write whatever you normally write about, and weave in a book quote, film quote, or song lyric that’s been sticking with you this week.

Well, considering I normally write about the days writing prompt, this leaves me in a bit of a sticky situation… so please give me one good reason, why I should never make a change? I enjoy what each prompt brings, so if it ain’t broke and all that!

I’d love to hear what people think I’ve quoted 😀
