More than 22,000 images were submitted for this year’s Bird Photographer of the Year competition, all of which were sent in with the hopes of claiming the £5,000 top prize. This year’s Best Portfolio award went to Kevin Morgans who showcased his talents of working with light… all with the help of an Atlantic puffin.

Morning Lek by Levi Fitze
This shot took the gold award in the Young Bird Photographer of the Year 2021, in the 14-17 year old category.

In the Woodland by Andrés L. Dominguez Blanco
This Eurasian nuthatch was in search of water when Andrés, from Spain, captured this incredible action shot, taking cold in the 9-13 category.
